GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Saint Leo University softball nearly pulled off the perfect weekend, but after a blowout 9-0 win over West Georgia earlier in the day, the Lions fell short in its afternoon tilt with Spring Hill College 1-0 Sunday at the Gulf Shores Complex.

Saint Leo (5-1) played a full seven innings against West Georgia (1-4) and gave the Wolves their biggest loss of the weekend. The Lions recorded 11 hits in the contest, led by Sophomore catcher
Madyson Coe who went 4-for-5. Junior infielder
Alyssa Perez went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
The freshmen continued to make an impact in the invitational, as infielder
Briana Neal and outfielder
Bianca Polistina's lone hits respectively drove in two and three RBIs.

Kayla Betts (2-0) topped her complete game from Friday, tossing a no-no with a career-high 16 strikeouts.

Bayley Williams made the lone hit for the Green & Gold, as the Lions allowed five hits to Spring Hill College.

Kayla Swinson (0-1) got her first start, as the reigning SUN Pitcher of the Year threw five and one-third innings and fanned four. Freshman utility
Haleigh Thomas also made an appearance at the circle, allowing no hits with three strikeouts.
The lone run of the game came in the fourth inning, as a sacrifice fly from Badgers' McKenzie King brought home the deciding run.
The Lions now turn their attention towards the Old Coast Classic hosted by Flagler College. The team will open with its second game against the University of West Alabama, with the first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.
