SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team complete revenge game versus Lynn with a win of 81-75.
Â
After the victory, the Lions are now 13-13 overall and 6-13Â in Sunshine State Conference play.
"Unfortunately, tonight we did not get to the phone line quite quick," said Head Coach
Anthony Crocitto. "We took the ball to the basket a ton. While we shot the ball exceptionally well and executed offensively well and executed offensively. We did not get enough defensive stops."
The Lions and the Fighting Knights went back and forth in the first quarter to the points where they headed into the second quarter tied 22-22.
Â
The second quarter was almost the same but Lynn was able to push away a tad bit at halftime with a four point lead.
Â
The defense for Lynn took over going into the second half as they took another chunk points into the lead heading into the fourth.
Â
Despite the tough effort from the Lions in the fourth, Lynn was able to keep the scoring going while defense was lacking and walked away with a 81-75 win over Saint Leo.
"Our rookies continue to shine and play very instrumental minutes.
Tamara Shash was incredible today on all facets of our game on both ends on the floor," said Crocitto.
Â
Senior
Amanda Ulrich led the Lions in scoring with 17 points while shooting 3-5 from behind the arc.
"We did not quite match Lynn's hunger for 40 minutes or follow the scout as well as we could have. In the end we had a shot and showed resilience and heart while playing hard," said Crocitto.
Â
The Lions will next be in action as they come back home to the Marion Bowman Center to take on Florida Southern in the second to last game of the regular season. The game is on February 22nd and tip-off is at 5:00pm.
