SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Baseball team completed their weekend sweep against Flagler College defeating the Saints, 4-3 and 8-2. With the two wins the Lions now sit at 4-3 on the year.
GAME ONE
After the Saints would take an early two run lead in the first inning, the Lions answered right back to steal the lead.
Bobby Sparling would drive in the first run of the game with a RBI single to left field. Eddie Niemann would give the Green & Gold the lead with a two run single up the middle.
Flagler would tie the game right back in the top of the second inning.
The Lions picked up their second walkoff of the season when
Adrien Roa would draw a walk to drive in
Mikey Scott to lift the Green and Gold over the Saints.
Niemann had an impressive day at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Mikey Scott would also go 2-for-4 at the dish with one run.
Nick Jennings picked up his first win of the season tossing 3.1 frames, four strikeouts, and allowed one hit on 11 batters faced.
GAME TWO
The Lions came out with an offensive surge to start the final game of the series against the Saints. Saint Leo would do all of their damage in the first three innings of the final game to end Seth Wysocki's afternoon early.
Evan Wolf had a stellar day on the mound for the Lions, tossing eight innings, striking out three batters, allowing three hits, two runs, and one earned run on 27 batters faced. Wolf improved to 1-0 on the season.
Jestin Jones came in to close out the afternoon against Flagler. Pitching a perfect frame to silence the Saints.
Yazael Nunez went 4-for-5 at the dish with two RBIs, two stolen bases, and one run.
Cooper Miles finished the afternoon, 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a double, run, and a walk. Scott would finish 2-for-4 at the plate with a RBI, run, and a walk.
The Lions will be back in action at Thomas B. Southard Stadium against Quincy University Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM.
