St. Augustine, Fla. - In a back-and-forth matchup, The Lions emerged victorious against Flagler with a final score of 54-51.
 
The first quarter set the tone for the game, with both teams showcasing their offensive effectiveness. Saint Leo struggled to find their rhythm initially, shooting 30% from the field in the first half. However, led by the impressive performance of Alanis Diaz, who scored 19 points and went 3-3 from beyond the arc, the Lions fought back and gained momentum as the game progressed.
 
Taydra Simpson and Alayna Harris also made significant contributions, each displaying a well-rounded game with key plays on both ends of the court. Jumoke Adaramoye and Chynna Mattair provided crucial points off the bench, helping to maintain Saint Leo's competitiveness throughout the contest.
 
The Lions' tenacious defense, highlighted by their ability to force turnovers and capitalize on them, was the deciding factor in this matchup. Kamaria Sheriff and Andjela Pavicevic played critical roles off the bench, making key defensive stops, and contributing to the team's overall success.
 
Head Coach Anthony Cricitto was pleased with the performance stating "That was a bigtime bucket from Taydra Simpson as the team executed perfectly coming out of a time out. The second half defense, led by our Captains, Jenni Whitlow, and Alayna Harris stabilized us in the second half.  Alanis Diaz was terrific on both ends and continues to develop her game in her early sophomore moments. Big props to Kamaria Sheriff who played some big first half minutes when we fussed a lot. Flagler is well coached and tough to beat on the road. Tonight was special after coming after a massive letdown at Tampa".
 
The game saw multiple lead changes and ties, keeping fans engaged until the final buzzer. The Lions' ability to execute in crucial moments and maintain their composure under pressure proved pivotal in securing the victory.
 
The Lions bounce back after a two-game skid and look to carry that over into their home matchup versus Johnson University – Florida on Tuesday Nov. 21^st at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
