SAINT LEO, FL - In a dominant performance at the Marion Bowman Center, the Lions emerged victorious against Johnson University (FL) with a final score of 110-52. The Lions showcased their dominance from start to finish, winning every period scoring at least 20 points in each quarter.
The game began with Saint Leo setting the tone early in the first quarter, shooting an impressive 55% from the field.
Taydra Simpson led the charge, contributing 15 points and three steals. The Lions' defense proved formidable, limiting Johnson (FL) to just 28% shooting in the opening quarter.
The second quarter saw Saint Leo maintain its offensive efficiency, shooting at a 47% clip.
Jumoke Adaramoye and
Jenni Whitlow made significant contributions, each adding 10 points on the afternoon. The Lions' defense remained resolute, allowing only a 27% on three-point attempts by Johnson (FL).
Andjela Pavicevic continued her dominance posting a double-double notching 16 points, 10 rebounds 3 blocks and a steal.
Entering the third quarter with a substantial lead, Saint Leo continued to assert its dominance. The team showcased versatility with
Lauren McCrea and
Anastasiya Astapenka making valuable contributions.
In the fourth quarter, Saint Leo sealed the victory with a stellar 78% shooting percentage.
Chynna Mattair and
Kamaria Sheriff displayed their prowess, with Sheriff making a significant impact on defense with eight rebounds and four blocks. The Lions' bench played a pivotal role, contributing 63 points throughout the game. This was a total team effort by the Lions on both offense and defense.

offense was incredible today as we played though our bigs. We certainly shared the ball better than we have all year and took care of them all better than we have all year

Andjela Pavicevic was focused on her game today, while our captains (Whitlow and Harris) showed leadership keeping the team focused heading into this basketball game."

The Lions go into the break on a high note and look to keep that going as they take on Eckerd College next Wednesday at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. This is the first conference home game of the season and tipoff is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
