Fort Lauderdale, FL - In a Sunshine State Conference matchup at Rick Case Arena, Saint Leo faced a tough test against Nova Southeastern, ultimately falling in three sets.
The Lions entered the game with a record of 9-16 (4-12 SSC), facing off against SSC Rival Nova Southeastern team with a record of 17-8 (10-6 SSC).
The match started with Saint Leo battling hard, but Nova Southeastern proved to be a dominant force throughout the night.
The Lions fought hard in the first set, with
Madi Certain showing off her attacking prowess, tallying 10 kills and contributing 2 blocks. Despite the effort, Nova Southeastern managed to secure the set with a score of 25-21.
In second set the Lions began to gain momentum, but Nova Southeastern continued to assert their dominance.
Margaret Schirm and
Oliwia Durka tried to spark a comeback with impressive plays, but Nova Southeastern's Brittany Landrum and Taylor Stockman kept the pressure on, securing the set 25-20.
The final set saw Saint Leo refusing to back down.
Durka continued to shine with 11 kills, but Nova Southeastern's offensive powerhouse, led by Landrum and Nadia Lindner, proved too much to handle. Despite the Lions' valiant effort, Nova Southeastern closed out the set with a score of 25-15, sealing the match.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue their play in a challenging Sunshine State Conference. They will take on Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow Nov 11
th with a match time set for 4:00 p.m.
