SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell to Sunshine State Conference opponent, Rollins Wednesday night, 64-56.
With the loss, the Green & Gold fall to 9-9 overall and 2-9 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Lions got off to a great start at one point leading by 15 in the 2
nd quarter before ultimately giving up the lead in the 3
rd quarter.
Freshman Ana Astapenka as she scored 10 points in just under 10 minutes played shooting 4-5 from the field. The bench chipped in for the Lions with 22 points.
Saint Leo kept the lead for nearly minutes in the game before Rollins were able to take control in the fourth.
Things started to become much closer in the 3
rd quarter as the Tars outscored the Lions 25-12 with a barrage of three-point shots.
Despite an incredible effort from the Lions, Rollins proved to be too strong in the clutch.
The Lions strongest offensive performance came in the 2nd quarter as they shot 6-13 from the field.
The Lions will be in action again against Barry University on January 21
st back on home court at the Marion Bowman Activities Center scheduled for 3:30pm.
