ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball, after taking game one of the doubleheader at Eckerd, dropped the nightcap with the Tritons, 10-2, on Friday night.
Eckerd broke out for four runs in the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff home run and then a two-out, three run home run to take an early 4-0 lead.Â
Saint Leo got a run back in the top of the second with
Kendyl Crean's second home run of the day and her sixth of the season to pull to within three runs at 4-1. Then in the top of the fourth,
Alyssa Perez hit a sac-fly to center that scored another run, and the game was a 4-2 Eckerd lead with momentum on the Lions' side.
However, the Tritons struck right back with a five-run bottom of the fourth inning, capped off with a three-run triple to put the game back in Eckerd's hands with a 9-2 lead.Â
Saint Leo and Eckerd will meet one more time on Saturday for the final game of the regular season with a tentative first pitch at 2:00 p.m.Â
