DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Saint Leo Men's Lacrosse came up short on Saturday afternoon at Embry-Riddle, dropping the contest with the Eagles, 17-15.
Embry-Riddle came out firing with 14 shots in the first quarter, holding a 7-2 lead after the opening frame. They outshot the Lions 14-3, holding possession for much of the first quarter.
The second quarter was much friendlier to the Lions, outshooting the Eagles 13-9, and pulling to within three goals after
Tyler Eames struck three times in the second quarter. Embry-Riddle took a 9-6 lead into halftime.
The comeback was officially on when the Lions came out of the locker room and put four goals on the board in a row, with three of them coming from the stick of
Guy Bistrow. Saint Leo quickly went up 10-9 on the Eagles. But that would be the last lead of the night for the green and gold. Saint Leo kept it to within three goals the rest of the way, but were unable to pull even with the Eagles.
Tyler Eames led Saint Leo with five goals on the night, followed
Guy Bistrow with four.
Steve Lauter had a game-high seven saves in the net for the Lions.
The Lions fall to 5-5 on the season and 0-3 in the Sunshine State Conference before hosting Tampa on Wednesday night at University Turf Stadium.
