SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball dropped a nailbiter to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday morning, 2-1, in game one of a doubleheader on Senior Day.Â
The Lions got on the board first with an
Isabella Andujar double to right field that brought home
Bayley Williams, giving Saint Leo a 1-0 lead.Â
But then the following two innings Palm Beach Atlantic answered back. An RBI groundout in the second inning tied the ballgame at 1-1 and a RBI single to left gave the Sailfish the lead for the remainder of the game.Â
Kayla Betts came on in the fourth inning and was dominant for the Lions to keep it at a one-run game. She threw four innings of scoreless work giving up just one walk and no hits.Â
Saint Leo finished with just one run on three hits and left three runners on base in the game one loss. The Lions fall to 25-17 on the season and 13-13 in the Sunshine State Conference before their final home game of the season in game two of the doubleheader against Palm Beach Atlantic.Â
