DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball came up a run short in game two of the doubleheader at Embry-Riddle, but they take two of three in the series from Embry-Riddle on the weekend.
The Lions got on the board first with two outs in the top of the second. After
Jordyn Wolfe singled, she came around to score on an error committed off a hit from
Madyson Coe to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
But back came Embry-Riddle in the bottom of the second, taking the lead on a two-out, two-run double to go up 2-1 on the Lions.
The next three innings were scoreless until
Isabella Andujar tied the ballgame up with a RBI single to left, scoring
Alexandra Hare, and even the game at 2-2.
However, tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles got runners on second and third and a RBI groundout won it for Embry-Riddle in walk-off fashion.
Morgan Shannon was dealt the loss for Saint Leo after going 6.2 innings of work, giving up three runs on seven hits with no walks and one strikeout. Saint Leo falls to 24-16 on the season and 12-12 in the Sunshine State Conference before hosting Palm Beach Atlantic for their final home series of the year next Friday and Saturday.
