TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team fell to No. 15 Tampa in a 20-8 Sunshine State Conference decision late Saturday morning. The Lions' second SSC matchup moved the Green and Gold's overall record to 4-8, 1-1 in the conference.
Delaney Gilchrist paced the Lions' offensive efforts against the Spartans. The midfielder from Marietta, Ga. netted four goals off eight shots.
Eliz Fino also found the back of Tampa's net, twice.
Off the draw,
Maria Palomba won eight draws helped by Regan Buhrman who registered four draw controls.
In goal,
Makayla Goetz earned double-digits saves with 12 in a full 60 minutes of work.
Saint Leo will regroup and move on as the Lions turn their attention to the Florida Tech Panthers. The Lions and Panthers are set to meet at University Turf Stadium on Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m.
