FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball fell in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday in what was a back-and-forth game from start to finish.
The Sharks got on the board first in the first inning on a RBI single down the left field line with the bases loaded to go up 1-0. They then made it 2-0 in the second on a RBI single on the infield.
But back came Saint Leo in the top of the third with the bases loaded when
Alyssa Perez hit a sac-fly to short and
Madyson Coe belted for home and cut the lead to 2-1. Then in the bottom of the third, Nova Southeastern extended the lead back to two on a sac bunt that scored their runner from third.Â
The Lions wouldn't go away quietly, however. In the top of the fourth they once again cut into the lead on a
Madyson Coe RBI single to left that scored
Hope Epps. Then with the score 3-2 going into the fifth,
Emily Pilon lifted the Lions on top with a two-run single to right scored Perez and
Isabella Andujar, making the score 4-3 Saint Leo.Â
Nova Southeastern once again made it tough on the Lions, tying the ballgame in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single, eventually forcing extra innings with the game tied at 4-4. The Sharks would walk it off in the eighth on a RBI single to left.Â
Saint Leo now falls to 19-13 on the season and 8-10 in the SSC before hosting Florida Tech this coming weekend for a three-game series at University Softball Stadium.Â
