SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo men's tennis team prevailed over No. 8 West Florida Friday afternoon inside the hot and sunny Saint Leo Tennis Center. The Lions handed the Argonauts a 4-3 decision; with all four points registered in singles play. The Green and Gold's win raised their overall record to 17-3 while the south region visitor's season mark dropped to 16-5.
The Argonauts jumped out ahead take the doubles point with wins in the first and third flights.
The Lions came back in singles action, propelled by No. 4
Bruno Faletto in the first flight (6-4, 6-1), No. 24
Vincent Thiel in the third flight (6-3, 4-6, 6-4),
Ghali Mensour in the fourth spot (7-6, 7-6), and
Luis Iriarte with a fifth flight win (6-1, 6-1).
The tight battle went on for over four hours, recording an important south region for the Lions.
Saint Leo is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. when they will meet Hawaii Pacific at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
