ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo men's tennis team's four-match win streak came to a halt on Saturday in the program's final regular-season match of the 2022 season. The No. 7 Hawaii Pacific Sharks edged the Lions 4-1 in a neutral site meeting in Sanlando Park. The non-conference decision moved the Green and Gold's overall record to 17-4.
The Sharks took the doubles point despite the third doubles duo,
Nicolas Bacella and
Luis Iriarte registering a 6-3 win.
Brad Eidenmuller recorded the Lions' match point in the sixth flight. The graduate student from Germany brought home a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The first and second singles flights were left unfinished.
The top-tier nationally-ranked match prepared Saint Leo for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championships. The SSC announced the tournament bracket Friday evening. Under the direction of head coach
Chad Berryhill, the Lions earned a fourth-place seed. Saint Leo will open the postseason play against fifth seed Florida Southern. The tournament will be played at the IMG Academy, starting on April 22.
