SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Baseball used six different pitchers on Tuesday night to shutdown Florida Southern 7-2 in a non-conference game at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
The Lions got a phenomenal start from
Charles Lefebvre who went four innings giving up just one hit and no runs, getting every hitter to either flyout or groundout. He used just four pitches in the second and third innings to retire the side.
It was a different pitcher every inning after that for Head Coach
Rick O'Dette.
Luke Pappas struck out three in the fifth.
Pat Gallagher gave up just one walk in the sixth before getting his last man to groundout to short.
Huston Richter, despite giving up a two-out double, made a phenomenal play with the help from his catcher
Peyton Meredith to tag out a runner trying to score on a wild pitch to end the inning.
Kaelan Racculia and
Manny Sado came on for the eighth and ninth innings to close things out for the Lions.Â
Saint Leo got its offense scattered throughout the ballgame. In the first inning,
Sam Crail singled home
Buck Anderson to get the Lions on the board. That was followed by a
Bobby Sparling double that brought home Crail, making it 2-0 Lions. Then
Adrien Roa broke it open in the fourth with a two-run home run to right giving Saint Leo a 4-0 lead. Roa then recorded his third RBI of the game in the sixth on a RBI single that scored Sparling, extending the Lions' lead to 5-0.
Owen Jansen then hit his first home run of the year, a two-run shot to right that broke the lead open to 7-0.Â
The Lions now stand at 19-9 on the season and have won two in a row before welcoming Rollins to Thomas B. Southard Stadium on Friday night to open a three-game series with the Tars.Â
