SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball used a six inning comeback to defeat Minnesota Duluth in game one of a doubleheader on Friday, 4-3.
The Lions got the rally started in the sixth inning with a
Jordyn Wolfe single to left, and then
Alyssa Perez got to second on an error by the first baseman to move Wolfe to third, bringing the tying run to second base. It was
Emily Pilon who then tapped a weak ground ball towards the circle, scoring Wolfe and moving Perez to third, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of the Bulldogs. Then Perez scored when
Isabella Andujar hit a grounder to second that was thrown away by the infielder trying to make a play on it, and the Lions tied the game at 3-3.
With
Caroline Barwick on second pinch running for Andujar,
Kendyl Crean brought home the winning run on a single up to center field, scoring Barwick, and giving the Lions a 4-3 lead.
Morgan Shannon was vital in relief work for the Lions, going three innings and shutting out the Bulldogs' offense. She gave up just two hits and three walks while striking out two batters.
The Lions moved to 18-4 on the season and remained undefeated at home in 2022.
