Hare, Betts have dominant outings in win over Tiffin

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball put up an offensive outburst in Tuesday's game one win over Tiffin behind Alexandra Hare's big game and Kayla Betts' no-hit performance.

Kayla Betts delivered back-to-back no-hit games after Friday night's no-hitter over Florida Southern. This time around, in a shortened game, Betts no-hit the Dragons from Tiffin, Ohio giving up just two walks and striking out six batters en route to her fifth win of the season. The sophomore from Leesburg, Florida faced just 17 batters on the night. Betts now sits at 5-2 on the year.

Alexandra Hare also helped the Lions put up 11 runs on the Dragons. With the bases loaded in the second inning, Hare roped a RBI triple down the right field line to clear the bases to give her 14 RBI's on the season and the Lions a 3-0 lead. Hare then took advantage of a wild pitch to come home and score the fourth run of the ballgame. Saint Leo then took a 5-0 lead on an Alyssa Perez RBI single that scored Kayleice Hooks, an at bat after Hooks stole her first career base as a Lion.

After the five run second inning by the Lions, Saint Leo erupted for four more runs in the third. It started with Bayley Williams doubling home Jordyn Wolfe, making the score 6-0 Lions. Hare then continued her big day with her fourth RBI on a single to right that scored Williams from second. Hare now sits at 15 RBI's on the season after game one on Tuesday night. Following Hare's single, Kayleice Hooks had another first in the Green and Gold with a two-run home run to left field, giving the Lions a 9-0 lead.

The rout was concluded in the fourth when Madyson Coe doubled home Hope Epps for her first double and RBI of the season. Kylie Liotine then brought home Deanna Falciglia on a RBI groundout to give Saint Leo an 11-0 cushion.

Saint Leo moved to 13-2 on the season with the win and recorded their eleventh straight win on the season.
