Lions win 10 in a row with sweep of Lynn

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball shutout the Lynn Fighting Knights for the second day in a row to extend their winning streak to ten games with an 8-0 at University Softball Stadium.

Morgan Shannon pitched her second shutout of the season going the distance with five innings pitched, giving up just two hits and four walks on the day, to go along with six strikeouts. Her last shutout came in Gulf Shores, Alabama against Delta State, when she also only had to pitch five innings, and had a closely similar stat line with two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts. Shannon earned her fourth win of the season against the Knights, and now sits at 4-1 on the year.

The Lions run ruled Lynn with their eight runs through five innings. Saint Leo had two three-run innings, one in the first inning and the other in the fourth inning. In the first inning, Emily Pilon singled home Alyssa Perez to get the Lions on the board. Then Kendyl Crean had a big first inning with a RBI single to bring home Pilon, and then trotted home to score on a wild pitch from Lynn's starter Faith MIller, to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.

And then in the fourth inning Alexandra Hare had her first RBI double of the season to score Caroline Barwick and Bayley Williams to extend the lead to 4-0. She was followed by a Perez RBI single and an Isabella Andujar single to complete the run-rule, 8-0.

Saint Leo now sits at 12-2 on the season with the sweep over the Knights, have won ten in a row, and stays perfect in the Sunshine State Conference at 6-0.
