SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball extended their win streak to nine in a row on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Lynn in game one of a doubleheader.
Rachel Bean stayed perfect on the season with her fourth win of the year.Â
Bean was dominant after a rough first two innings. After the second inning, she sat down 12 out of 13 batters, retiring the side in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. And most of those outs came in the infield, getting great help from the defense behind her. Bean gave up just one run on two hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.Â
Saint Leo got their two runs in the first inning, and it proved to be enough behind Bean's strong performance.
Ciara Ford drew a leadoff walk and then moved to third on an
Alyssa Perez single.
Emily Pilon then brought home the first run on a RBI sac-fly to right field, giving Saint Leo a 1-0 lead. It was then
Isabella Andujar who would eventually bring home the game-winning run on a RBI double, scoring Perez.Â
Lynn's starting pitcher, Madison Prickett, despite being handed her fifth loss of the season, went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out six batters.Â
The Lions move to 11-2 on the season with the win, and have won the series over Lynn after the first two games. Saint Leo now stays perfect in conference play at 5-0. The Lions and Knights will finish their series with game two of the doubleheader on Saturday.Â
