BOCA RATON, Fla. - Saint Leo dropped game two in Saturday's doubleheader at Lynn, 7-2, falling to 7-7 on the season.
The Lions were able to jump on the Knights early to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
Sam Crail got Saint Leo on the board first with a RBI sac-fly to center to score
Buck Anderson. Crail was followed by
Bobby Sparling who took Lynn's Jordan Winston deep for his league leading sixth home run of the season and 21st RBI, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead. Sparling now leads the league in home runs with six and hits with 25.
The two runs in the first inning were all Saint Leo would be able to bring across the plate. Winston finished his day with 5.2 innings pitched giving up the two runs on seven hits, walking two batters and striking out four.
The Knights opened up their five run lead gradually with a run in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and another run in the eighth. Lynn powered their way with two RBI doubles, three RBI singles, and a home run.
Saint Leo starter
Dariel Fregio went 3.1 innings pitched, giving up six runs on nine hits with five strikeouts, but was handed his first loss of the season. The Lions will be back in action on Sunday in Boca Raton for an 11:00 AM first pitch with the Lynn Fighting Knights, looking to avoid the sweep and come back to Saint Leo on the winning track.
