TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team rolled to an 85-52 win over Tampa on Wednesday. The Lions' confident win raised their season mark to 12-14, 7-12 overall.
Francis Sio propelled the Lions from beyond the arc. Sio racked up 23 points going 5-for-5 from downtown, 7-for-17 from the field, and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Jared Coomer and
Frank Webb Jr. added 15 points.
Wade Coomer rounded off double-digit scoring with 12 points. As a unit, the Lions shot 63.6-percent from the three-point range and 48.5-percent from the floor.
Cantia Rahming once again led Saint Leo off the glass. The freshman forward earned a team-high 10 rebounds and finished just shy of a double-double with nine points.
Saint Leo held a six-point lead at the half and took off in the second. The Lions' 17-point run that caught fire in the 17
th minute handed the Green and Gold a 21-point lead; 66-45. Saint Leo recorded as much as a 37-point lead before the Spartans tallied four in the last minute for the 85-52 final.
The Lions will close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb 26 on the road at Barry. Tip-off in Miami Shores, Fla. is set for 4:00 p.m. Currently, Saint Leo is the seventh seed in the conference. For more information about the SSC Tournament visit the conference webpage at
