SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball won their sixth in a row with an 8-4 comeback win over Florida Southern in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.Â
The Lions trailed Florida Southern, 4-2, going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Alyssa Perez singled and
Madyson Coe walked to bring the tying run on base for the Lions. That's when
Kayleice Hooks, pinch hitting, came to the plate and singled home Perez and moved
Hope Epps, pinch running for Coe, over to third base 90-feet away from tying the game.Â
Isabella Andujar then entered the game and lined a RBI single to left-center to bring home Epps and Hooks, giving the Lions a 5-4 lead over the Mocs. She grabbed her fifth and sixth RBI's of the season.
Bayley Williams would then pinch run for Andujar, and move to third on an
Alexandra Hare single, putting runners on the corners for
Jordyn Wolfe.Â
The lead expanded to three when
Jordyn Wolfe connected and roped a RBI triple down the right field line scoring Williams and Hare, giving Saint Leo a 7-4 lead. Wolfe would score when
Morgan Shannon grounded out to second, making the score 8-4 in favor of the Lions.Â
Morgan Shannon moved to 2-2 on the season with a six inning performance, giving up one run on five hits, with four strikeouts and four walks.Â
The Lions moved to 8-2 on the season, and 2-0 in the SSC on the year. Florida Southern dropped to 6-5 and 0-2 in the conference on the year.Â
