SAINT LEO, Fla. – Seniors
Wade Coomer and
Frank Webb Jr. closed out their collegiate careers inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center during the Saint Leo Lions' last home regular-season game on Saturday. It was more than fitting for the seniors themselves to pace the offense in the Lions' 91-71 win over the Lynn Fighting Knights.
Frank Webb Jr. put up 21 points while
Wade Coomer tallied 19. The celebratory afternoon raised the Green and Gold's overall record to 11-14 overall, 6-12 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Frank Webb Jr. led the Lions' stat sheet with a double-double. The guard from Baltimore, Maryland added 10 rebounds to his 21 points with a team-high nine defensive rebounds.
Cantia Rahming also recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds (5-5). Rahming and
Jared Coomer each joined Webb Jr. and
Wade Coomer in scoring double-figures with 11 and 17 points, respectively.
The Lions got ahead of the Fighting Knights with an 11-0 opening first four minutes. Lynn was able to cut the gap to six points in the 12
th minute of the second half (57-51) but the Green and Gold shut the door from there.
Saint Leo will close out the regular season on the road. The Lions will travel down the highway on Wednesday, Feb 23 to meet with Tampa. The Lions and Spartans tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
