Ulrich Reaches 1K Career Milestone in Victory over Nova Southeastern

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team enjoyed sweet revenge on the Nova Southeastern Sharks Wednesday night in the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The Lions defeated the Sharks 87-78 to split the season series propelled by Amanda Ulrich's milestone day. Ulrich, a junior guard from New Jersey, put up a team a team-high 22 points to surpass 1,000 career points. Ulrich became the newest 1,000-point club member and now hold 1,013 points after 58 games for an average of 17.47 points per game. The big night raised the Green and Gold's overall record to 16-7, 11-4 in the SSC.

Ulrich was joined in scoring double-digits by Kiki McIntyre (20), Alex Button (16), and Tori Lesko (13). McIntyre tallied a double-double adding 11 rebounds to her 38 minutes of work.

Saint Leo edged Nova Southeastern in the first three quarters to upset the Sharks.

In addition to the individual career milestone for Ulrich, Head Coach Anthony Crocitto and the 2022 Saint Leo Lions earned the most conference wins in program history.

"What an amazing night," expressed Crocitto. "It was a fantastic accolade for Amanda and a record setting conference win. Nova is such a well-coached and solid program, so this is very special.

"Kiki, Wow," continued Crocitto. "She earned double figure points, rebounds, and five assists. It was a tremendous night for her.

"Ulrich carried us a times on both ends. She is such a special player with an amazing career ahead of her. And, it's really just getting started.

"The bench," continued Crocitto. "They might not play as much as I or they like but what a great contribution tonight through some tough contact and minutes. A couple of huge jumpers from Jenni Whitlow, we saw solid low post footwork from Alyana Harris, and athletic defense from Kamaria Sherriff."

Crocitto concluded, "We are excited but must take this thing day by day and continue to grow as a family. Thank you Saint Leo for the amazing crowd tonight. You all were our sixth man, for sure. I'm so proud of these women. Let's go, Lions!"

Saint Leo continues action on Saturday, Feb 12 traveling to Winter Park, Fla. The Lions will tip-off against the Tars of Rollins at 2:00 p.m.
