SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo Baseball team is set to open a packed Spring schedule under the direction of fifth-year head coach
Rick O'Dette on Friday, February 4, 2022. After an abbreviated 2021 schedule, Saint Leo has a full slate of 50 games for 2022.
O'Dette and the Saint Leo Lions will welcome four non-conference programs to Thomas B. Southard Stadium in Mars Hill, Kentucky Wesleyan, Minnesota Crookston, and Valdosta State. The rest of the non-conference schedule is filled out by a three-game series at Flagler, a single game at Valdosta State, a single non-conference meeting with fellow Sunshine State Conference (SSC) member, Rollins.
On Friday, Feb. 4 the Green and Gold will take the field at Thomas B. Southard Stadium hosting Mars Hill starting at 6:00 p.m. The season home opener marks the first of a four-game series with the visiting Lions of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).
Following the opening series at home, Saint Leo will be tested on the road in 11 straight games. Saint Leo will be traveling to Rollins, Flagler, Valdosta, Florida Southern, and Lynn. The road stretch begins at the home of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Flagler Saints. The Lions and Saints will meet at Drysdale Field in a three-game series starting on Friday, Feb. 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Green and Gold will then continue their road trip to Rollins in Winter Park, Fla. The non-conference tilt is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 5:00 p.m. The Lions will then head North to Valdosta State of the Gulf South Conference (GSC). The Blazers will host the Lions at the Billy Grant Field at Tommy Thomas Park for a single game on Friday, Feb. 11 starting at 5:00 p.m.
The non-conference stack will prepare Saint Leo to open conference competition at Florida Southern on Friday, Feb. 18. The Moccasins and Lions' first pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Henley Field in Lakeland, Fla. The last of the 11 game road trip will land the Lions in Boca Raton, Fla. to face the Lynn Fighting Knights.
Saint Leo returns home to host Kentucky Wesleyan and Minnesota Crookston before the Green and Gold's conference opener on Friday, March 11 against the Barry Buccaneers.
