WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo Lions (2-5-1, 1-1 SSC) clinched an overtime thriller Saturday evening at Palm Beach Atlantic (4-1, 1-1 SSC), which is ranked third nationally.
Miguel Fernandez converted a corner kick to upset the Sailfish. The 2-1 overtime decision also snapped a 1,088-day win streak for the Sailfish on their home pitch.
Luca Tiozzo struck first. The sophomore from Lisboa, Portugal handled a loose ball up front and got Saint Leo on the board just seconds before the halftime break. The 'Fish answered the Green and Gold 30 minutes later.
The Sunshine State Conference teams battled back and forth as the hosts tallied 19 shots over the Lions' four during regulation. Despite the shot count, the Lions' only goal extra time was the only one needed to clinch the national upset. Fernandez's golden goal was assisted by
Federico Tellechea in the 98
th minute.

Saint Leo will look to carry the momentum into Wednesday's match at Eckerd. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Fla.
