Tars Pull Away from Lions in Non-Conference Tilt

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The young Saint Leo men's soccer team was unable to break the Tars of Rollins College in non-conference action Wednesday night at the Cahall-Sandspur Field. The Tars pulled away from the Lions by one in the first and ended up recording a 3-0 final. The midweek decision moved the Green and Gold's record to 0-4-1 while Rollins' season mark moved to 3-1-1.

The experienced Rollins squad scored the go-ahead goal off a set piece in the 18th minute. Saint Leo regrouped and kept the Tars from striking again until the 55th minute. Rollins tallied one more in the 83rd minute to secure the match.

Alex Mollinedo and Noah Kvifte led the Lions' offense with a shot apiece. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Riccardo Zarri collected three saves in 90 minutes of work.

Saint Leo will turn its attention to Saturday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m., when the Lions host Embry-Riddle in the program's conference opener. Saturday night also marks the first Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) 'Athletes For Athletes' event of the year to support the Lions as they take on the Eagles.
