SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer offense busted out 31 shots in Saturday night's non-conference tilt against the Johnson University Suns. The Lions found the back of the net five times propelled by two goals by
Dylan Smith. The offensive onslaught lifted the Green and Gold's overall record to 3-6-1, while the Suns' season mark moved to 1-4-2.
Arthur Bergami converted a penalty kick in the 17
th minute to get things started. 25 minutes later,
Noah Kvifte made his way off the backline and tallied his first season goal, assisted by
Tyler Velazquez.
The Lions pulled away in the second half, adding three goals to ensure the victory.
Dylan Smith's pair of goals sandwiched
Dorian Jackson's second career goal. Smith's big night recorded his first and second career goals to add to his two assists. Meanwhile, Jackson, a freshman out of Ocala, Fla., finished a beautiful series of quick passes from
Alex Mollinedo and
Sebastian Arango.
In between the pipes,
Joao Kozlowski earned his first career start, his second season appearance. After Kozlowski handled the first 45 minutes,
Jackson Eckley finished up the work in the second half in which he collected a save.
Saint Leo will return to action in the Sunshine State Conference for the remainder of the season. The Lions are back at the Saint Leo Soccer Field on Wednesday, Oct. 6 to host the Tars of Rollins College, starting at 7:00 p.m.
