Men’s Soccer Draws with Florida Tech in Lions’ Fifth Overtime Appearance

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo and Florida Tech put on a show in front of a packed house during the University's Fall Family Festival and the Lions' senior night. Saint Leo started the night thanking Riccardo Zarri, Noah Nixon, and Karl Nyman for their tremendous contributions to the Green and Gold. The three seniors and the rest of the Lions had a long night ahead as the Sunshine State Conference foes battled for 110 minutes which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Saint Leo (3-8-2, 2-3-1) is no stranger to extra time. Saturday night marked the program's fifth overtime appearance during the 2021 season. The Lions fired off 12 shots, dominating the first half with nine.

Florida Tech (5-4-1, 2-3-1) whipped up 15 shots on the night forcing four tremendous saves by senior goalkeeper Riccardo Zarri. Panther's Julien Remiti was the first to strike, finding the back of the net in a shuffle inside the box. He was assisted by Juan Masqueda in the 23rd minute.

Noah Kvifte recorded his second goal of the season converting a beautiful through ball from Arthur Bergami on the right side of the field. Miguel Ferandez and Alexander Mollinedo paced the rest of the offensive efforts with two shots apiece.

The Lions return to the road for a quick trip down the highway to Tampa on Wednesday, October 20. Kickoff between the SSC rivals is set for 7:00 p.m.
