TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball team fell Tuesday night to the No. 12 Spartans of the University of Tampa, 3-0. The Spartans, one match removed from just their second loss of the season, came out firing and never looked back hitting a solid .358 as a team.

The loss drops the Lions' record to 6-11 overall and 2-7 in Sunshine State Conference play while the Spartans improved to 14-2 overall and 8-1 in league action.

Brooke Turner led the Lion effort picking up seven kills over the three sets to go along with six digs. Redshirt junior
Elizabeth Sandoval and redshirt senior
Anna Garrett added five kills each. Sandoval chipped in four digs and an assist while Garrett had 18 assists and seven digs along with one of the Lions' two service aces.

Skylar Singleton for the team lead in digs as they all tallied seven digs.

The Lions struggled to get the offense going without kills leader
Ashley Quero as the team hit just .097 as a squad. Saint Leo was unable to connect on a block while the Spartans posted 7.0.

Kalli Cors led the Spartans with 10 kills while Katie McKiel added eight.

The Lions return home for the first time since Sept. 25 as they welcome in Palm Beach Atlantic Friday night for a 7 p.m. match. Â Â
