SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 16 Saint Leo Lions were tripped up by the Saint Anselm Hawks Sunday afternoon at University Turf Stadium. The Green and Gold's offense was held to three goals while the Hawks took flight, soaring to a 13-3 final.
Alyssa Wahl netted her first collegiate goal while
Sam Nolan and
Janee DeLuca also found the back of the net. Saint Anselm placed all 24 shots on target forcing nine saves. Meanwhile, Saint Leo took 25 shots but only 15 proved dangerous.
Defensively,
Emily Lampasone handed in three caused turnovers and four ground balls while
Meghan Bomleny caused three turnovers and picked up a pair. In the net,
Emma Crafton took the loss after 43 minutes of work and seven saves.
Rachel Smythe recorded her first collegiate appearance in which she earned two stops.

Saint Anselm shutdown the Saint Leo offense in the first half. The Hawks put together a seven goal lead while maintaining a 30-minute shutout. Saint Leo scored back-to-back goals to open the second half, both converting free position shots. The final Green and Gold tally came in the 18
th minute in the form of an unassisted goal by Wahl.
