TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team fell behind early Sunday afternoon to fifth-ranked Catawba and the Lions were unable to recover as the Indians cruised to a 12-3 victory. The Lions fell behind 12-0 before scoring a run in the fifth and two in the sixth in a comeback effort.

Senior
Jacob Reimold was the lone Lion with more than one hit as he finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, a run scored and a double. Junior
Danny Torres tallied the only other extra base hit as he went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a double. Sophomore
Mike Wyman picked up the third RBI as he went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Saint Leo used seven different pitchers throughout the contest with senior
Joey Antonopoulos picking up the start. Antonopoulos suffered the loss while pitching 3.0 innings. He had one strikeout, a walk and eight hits allowed. Three of the seven pitchers went 1.0 inning without allowing a hit and they included senior
Trevor Sanchez, freshman
Yazael Nunez and sophomore

The Indians belted out 17 hits compared to Saint Leo's seven. Luke Spiva led the Indians going 4-for-5 at the dish with a run scored, two RBI and a double. Of the 17 hits just two went for extra bases and they were both doubles. Six different Indians finished with more than one hit.

The loss drops the Lions to 0-3 in 2020 while the win was the first for fifth-ranked Catawba this season who walked away with a 1-2 record.

The Lions will return to action next weekend as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to compete in a three-game series with Lee. Â
