GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 23 Saint Leo women's lacrosse team upset No. 13 Limestone, 16-11, Sunday afternoon at Saints Field. The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) top-25 showdown went back-and-forth in the first half, with neither team gaining more than a two-goal advantage. Saint Leo wrapped up the first half with three-straight goals and pulled away with a five-goal to open the second half.

The offensive onslaught was paced by
Janee DeLuca with five points scoring four goals and an assist alongside
Ashlee Wilsynski also with five points, tallying a hat-trick and a pair of assists.
Meghan Bomleny earned a career-high four goals during a four-point day.
Kaci Archer joined Wilsynski in the hat-trick club. Archer registered three goals and an assist to help lift the Lions over the Saints.

Ashley Salvett won 10 draw controls and picked up five ground balls while
Carson Clark earned a team-high two caused turnovers.

Erin Davis and
Emma Crafton split time protecting the Lions' net. Davis earned the win after 28 minutes of action and three saves. Crafton finished up the day in the cage with one save.

Saint Leo's early lead was overturned and added to by Limestone for a 6-4 game with nine minutes remaining in the first half. The Green and Gold put together a three-goal run to pass the Saints, 7-6, at the break. The Lions' strong first half finish was jump started by Bomleny's second goal, assisted by
Sam Nolan. DeLuca capitalized on a man-up situation proceeding Archer's good free position goal.

The Lions' offense was only getting warmed up, as the break fueled five more consecutive goals, allowing the Green and Gold to pull away, 12-6. DeLuca, assisted by Wilsynski, netted the ultimate game-winner with 21:15 still left to play. The Lions' defense only conceded five goals in the second half, while the offense added four more for the 16-11 final.

Saint Leo will continue to be tested on the road, this time in a neutral site location. On Saturday, Feb. 22 Saint Leo will meet Roberts Wesleyan in Naples, Fla. for a 1 p.m. opening draw at Barron Collier High School.
