Brad Jorgensen, No. 16 Saint Leo will meet fellow South Region program, No. 20 Colorado Mesa, on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Jacksonville, Fla. at Providence School of Jacksonville. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Lions wear the No. 16 ranking after US Lacrosse Magazine released the 2020 Nike/US Men's Lacrosse Division II Top-20 list. The Green and Gold concluded the 2019 season with a 10-7 overall record, 4-3 mark in the Sunshine State Conference as the SSC Tournament Runners-Up.
Eight Lions were honored among the All-SSC teams while
Julian Taylor was awarded the elite title of a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) / Warrior and New Balance Division II All-American. Saint Leo will meet five others named among the national preseason poll: No. 20 Colorado Mesa, No. 1 Limestone, No. 17 Rollins, No. 6 Tampa, and No. 18 Florida Southern.
Saint Leo is slated for eight business trips featuring six away contests and two neutral site games. University Turf Stadium will host four games, opening at home on Saturday, Mar. 7 against Walsh at 11 a.m. followed in the Lions' Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday, Mar. 21 hosting Rollins at 1 p.m. The month of April holds an additional pair of home games. On Saturday, Apr. 4 Saint Leo will face Lynn at 1 p.m. The Green and Gold's closing home game will honor the senior class on Saturday, Apr. 11 while hosting Embry-Riddle at 1 p.m.
The 2020
48-man roster is made up of 31 returns, 16 freshmen and a transfer. The Lions await the SSC Coaches' Preseason Poll scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
