SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team clinched a 2-1 overtime victory against the Pensalcola Christian Eagles in the Lions home opener on Thursday. The Green and Gold saw junior transfer Federico Toschi break out a pair of goals to snag the overtime thriller.
 
The scoreboard remained untouched after the first 45 minutes of play between the non-conference foes. Toschi netted his first goal as a Lion in the 52^nd minute finishing a series of beautiful passes by teammates Elias Niesigk and Mauro Diaz.
 
With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Pensalcola Christian was award a penalty kick, where Jake McClelland scored the equalizer.
 
Toschi came up big in extra time, finding the back of the net in the 96^th minute, to capture the home opener win.
 
Saint Leo looks to open competition in the Sunshine State Conference in less than 48 hours. The Lions travel to the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, September 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
