Federico Toschi break out a pair of goals to snag the overtime thriller.
The scoreboard remained untouched after the first 45 minutes of play between the non-conference foes. Toschi netted his first goal as a Lion in the 52
nd minute finishing a series of beautiful passes by teammates
Elias Niesigk and
Mauro Diaz.
With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Pensalcola Christian was award a penalty kick, where Jake McClelland scored the equalizer.
Toschi came up big in extra time, finding the back of the net in the 96
th minute, to capture the home opener win.
Saint Leo looks to open competition in the Sunshine State Conference in less than 48 hours. The Lions travel to the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, September 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
