GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team's late goal fell short against the No. 3 Lander Bearcats in a 2-1 decision on Friday.
The Lions (0-3) netted a goal in the 61
st minute to close the Bearcats (4-0) lead to one. The Green and Gold's goal came off the boot of
Mathis Hardy, assisted by
Elias Niesigk. The goal marked Hardy's first career goal as a Saint Leo Lion.
Wessel Berenschot earned five stops in the net after facing 14 shots.
Saint Leo returns to action on Sunday, September 15 facing USC Aiken at 1 p.m.
