SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's cross country was picked to finish third in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league today (Aug. 23).
The Green and Gold will head into a four race season under fifth year head coach
Kent Reiber. The Lions will open up the season at the Florida Tech Invitational on Sept. 7. Â
Saint Leo received 49 points in the poll coming in behind Tampa (first) with 61 votes, six first place, and Embry-Riddle (second) with 55 points, two first place votes, while tying with Florida Southern as the Moccasins received one first place vote. Lynn (fifth, 36) rounded out the top five of the poll.Â
Last season the Lions took home third place at the SSC Championships before going on to take sixth at the NCAA South Region Championship.
Ashley Lindeman was the top overall runner at the SSC Championships for Saint Leo, taking seventh overall while
Paige Patterson paced the group at the regional with a 23rd place finish. Â
