LAKELAND, Fla. - Saint Leo University Men's and Women's cross country both placed second at the 27th annual FLRunners Invitational.
Women's 6k
Leading the way from the gun for the lions was sophomore Amirah Johnson. Johnson placed 4th overall with a time of 23:43.06, just ahead of 4 straight moccasins from Florida southern.
Following Johnson was junior Eden Brumer, with a personal best of 24:35.09 placing 9th leading a trio of lions. In 10th place was sophomore Jasmine Fajardo, also running a personal best of 24:46.62, and in 11th place was sophomore Delaney Glynn; Rounding out the trio in 24:50.95. Closing out the scoring for the women was sophomore Alexis Morgan, crossing the line in 27:32.23.
Men's 8k
Sophomore Jevin Luna dominated the collegiate field. With a gigantic lifetime best in the 8k, Luna placed 5th overall, and 1st amongst collegiate athletes with a mark of 26:46.06.
The next lion to cross the line was sophomore Santiago Rodriguez in 27:40.97, also a personal best. Freshman Anderson Olea also recorded a PR, finishing 3rd for the lions in 27:57.93.
Rounding out the scoring the men was sophomore Angelo Acosta and Senior Brandon Hill finishing in 28:19.91 and 29:25.93 respectively.
The cross country teams are back in action on Oct. 16 at Holloway Park.
