SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named
Marta Vicens Miquel of the Saint Leo Lions women's tennis team the South Region Player to Watch on Wednesday. In addition to the individual spotlight, Saint Leo was honored with the region's Community Service award as a team.

Marta Vicens Miquel closed her sophomore campaign with a 16-8 record at the first singles flight for the Lions. In doubles, she tallied a 15-11 overall record competing mainly in the third flight where she earned an 11-8 mark. Vicens Miquel closed the 2019 season ranked 47 among the ITA national poll with a 9.62 season average. The award marks the Port De Pollensa, Spain product's second consecutive ITA South Region honor after earning the elite honor of Rookie of the Year in 2018.

As a team, Lions were proudly titled with the South Region Community Service Award. The Lions volunteered over 80 hours of community service. Saint Leo served in Dade City's Love One Another organization that feed the need on Sunday afternoons. They also volunteered hours gardening at the Saint Leo Abbey Monastery and helped run the annual 'Meet the Lions' event that educates the surrounding community along with faculty and staff about the game of tennis.
