SAINT LEO, Fla. – Third-year head coach
Chad Berryhill signed four to the 2019-2020 women's tennis roster. The Lions welcome its newest members: Molly Helgesson, Kortney McHale, Sandra Swiderski and Margaux Ginefri.
Molly Helgesson transfers to Saint Leo from ASA Miami, originally she is from Falkenberg, Sweden. While competing she will work to obtain a Criminal Justice major. "I chose Saint Leo because it is one on the best NCAA Division II schools. I look forward to joining a great program," said Helgesson. Helgesson brings with her a list of accomplishments including a 2018 number-one ranking among U18 in Sweden.
Kortney McHale is a true freshman from Montgomery, New York who will study Biology at Saint Leo. McHale said, "My main priorities when deciding on a school was a close knit community with a competitive tennis program. I look forward to continuing my academic and athletic career as a Lion." McHale has been decorated as the MVP at Valley Central high school along with All-County, All-Section and New York State Championship selections.
Sandra Swiderski is an established local tennis athlete from Wesley Chapel, Florida. The Saddlebrook Preparatory product has earned a toop-18 Florida ranking. "I chose Saint Leo because of the academic opportunities and amazing tennis program," said Swiderski. While competing for the Green and Gold, she will be double majoring in Accounting and Economics.
Margaux Ginefri rounds off the Lions 2019-2020 recruiting class. Ginefri joins the Saint Leo women's tennis program coming from Mougins, France after earning a 5/6 French ranking. "The location is ideal for me," explained Ginefri. "I really enjoyed the small campus and the program's top-three NCAA Division II ranking clearly communicates Saint Leo is a serious and hardworking tennis program. Ginefri is considering majoring in either Sport Business or Marketing.
