SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference released the 2019 Women's Tennis Championship bracket on Thursday. Among the eight conference programs, Saint Leo, ranked third nationally in the latest ITA national poll, make its' postseason appearance as the number three seed with an 18-4, 8-3 SSC record.
Third seeded Saint Leo will face sixth seeded Tampa on Friday, April 26 starting at 3:30 p.m. at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The winners of the first round will advance to face the winners of second seed Lynn and seventh seed Rollins.
Kristyna Jurkova and
Andrea Ivanovic, ranked tenth in the Wednesday's ITA poll, have put together a doubles flight no. 1 record of 12-3, now on a six-match win streak. As a team, the Lions have tallied a 40-26 mark in doubles play.
Marta Vicens Miquel, ranked fifty-third by the ITA singles poll, leads the Green and Gold at the singles one spot with a 15-6 season record. Meanwhile, Jurkova, who is ranked fifty-seventh nationally, has also put together a 15-6 season mark going 14-6 in second singles, 1-0 in first singles.
Nina Furmaniak has had a stellar freshman campaign going 16-3 in third singles. She enters the conference postseason with a five-match win streak.
In sixth singles,
Anna Marija Bukina also enters the postseason with momentum with a nine-match win streak with a 9-1 record.
The three-day championship tournament will begin on Friday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. with the championship and third place match set on Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
