WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team made a late game comeback Friday night at Rollins College as the Lions scored one in the seventh and three in the ninth to earn the series opening victory over the Tars 6-3.
Â
Redshirt sophomore
Danny Torres had a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate with a pair of RBI and a double. Senior
Peyton Isaacson, who picked up the save on the mound, went 3-for-4 at the dish with a run scored, an RBI and a double. Senior
Brett Coffel was the only other Lion with multiple hits as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double.
Â
Freshman
Mike Wyman provided the go-ahead RBI in the ninth as he laced a two-out single through the right side that scored Isaacson who had reached on a one-out double to right. Following Wyman, Torres ripped a bases clearing double to right that scored pinch runner
Logan Flood and Coffel, who was intentionally walked prior to Wyman's at bat.

Sophomore
McCabe Sargent took the start on the mound for the Lions and went 7.0 strong innings. He allowed three runs on just three hits while striking out nine and walking just one. All three runs for the Tars came off a pair of home runs, a two-run shot in the third and a solo spot in the fourth. Sargent rebounded from the two long balls to pitch three shutdown innings paving the way for the Lions comeback.
Â
Junior
Joey Antonopoulos came out of the bullpen and pitched an inning while not allowing a hit and striking out one. He was credited with the win, his team-best fifth of the season. Isaacson came on to pitch the ninth and struck out two while walking one to earn his third save of the season.
Â
The Lions pitching staff limited Rollins to just three hits on the day and none after the fourth inning.
Â
The Lions will conclude their series with Rollins tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Â
