WINTER PARK, Fla. – After picking up a 6-3 victory in the series opener Friday night, the Saint Leo baseball team suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses Saturday as Rollins took the three game series with a doubleheader sweep.

In game one the Lions led 8-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh but two runs in the seventh, four in the eighth and one in the bottom of the ninth proved to be the difference for the Tars as they scored seven unanswered in the final three innings to take the victory. Â Game two was another walk-off heartbreaker as the game went into extras tied 3-3. The Lions loaded the bases with one out in the top of the ninth but a strikeout and a pop up ended the rally. The Tars would go on to load the bases in the bottom of the 10
th with no outs and an RBI single to right centerfield ended the ballgame, 4-3.

The Lions are now 18-20 overall and 7-11 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Tars improved to 22-13 in 2019 and 10-8 in league play.

Peyton Isaacson all finished with three hits on the day to lead the Lions. Gibree was 3-for-7 with a run scored, a walk, a stolen base and two RBI while Morello went 3-for-7 with a run scored, an RBI and a pair of walks. Isaacson went 3-for-10 at the dish with two RBI.

Brett Coffel all drove in two runs on the day to tie for the team lead. Coffel did all his damage in game one as he was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double, a home run and a walk in the opening game Saturday.

The Lions tallied 21 hits over the two games which led to 11 runs but it was not enough to slow down the Tars who posted 21 hits and 13 runs.

Ryan Nolan each pitched into the seventh inning in their respective games. Haight went 6.0 innings with five hits given up, four runs allowed (three earned), four strikeouts and a walk. Nolan went 6.2 innings with seven hits, three runs, six strikeouts and a walk. Â

Four Lion relievers saw action on the day with freshman
Brady McGarry suffering the loss in game one after pitching 0.2 of an inning with a walk and a run scored. Junior
Trevor Sanchez took the loss in game two as he went 2.1 innings of relief with two strikeouts, three walks, six hits and two runs allowed.

The Lions will look to right the ship this Thursday as they return home from their eight-game road swing to host Florida Tech for a three-game series with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday night. Â Â
