SAINT LEO, Fla. – It took 25 runs, 26 hits and six errors to decide the winner Saturday afternoon at Thomas B. Southard Stadium between the Saint Leo University baseball team and Tiffin University. The Lions looked to be in control after taking a 9-4 lead in the third inning but that was just the beginning of a back-and-forth bout between the two programs. The Lions would eventually win the game 13-12 with a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

Saint Leo witnessed its 9-4 lead turn into a 12-9 deficit by the sixth inning which setup an exciting finish. The Lions tied the ball game in the seventh with a two-run sacrifice fly to deep centerfield by
Brett Coffel and then won the game after loading the bases with no outs in the ninth and drawing a walk-off wild pitch.

Derek Gibree and junior
Jacob Reimold each went 3-for-4 at the plate Saturday afternoon to lead the Lions offensively. Gibree had two RBI, a run scored and a walk while Reimold tallied a double, a homerun, two RBI and three runs scored. Reimold was also at the plate when the wild pitch occurred to give the Lions the victory.

Amir Wright and redshirt freshman
Paul Coumoulos each had two hits in the contest while Wright drove in a pair of runs. Coffel also picked up two RBI which came off his deep sacrifice fly in the seventh. He finished 1-for-4 at the dish.

On the mound
Ryan Nolan took the start and went 4.2 innings with three strikeouts and three walks. He allowed six hits which led to one earned run and six unearned tallies.
Jeremy Peel came in and went just two thirds of an inning while allowing five hits and five runs. He struck out a pair and walked one. The final pitcher for the Lions was
Joey Antonopoulos who came on and stopped the scoring for the Dragons. He went the final 3.2 innings while striking out four and walking just one. He allowed two hits and kept the Dragons scoreless which allowed the Lions to make a comeback. He picked up the win to move to 2-1 on the season.

The Lions and Dragons will close out their three-game series Sunday at noon. The game was originally slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch but due to travel concerns the Lions and Dragons will take the field at high noon. Â
