SAINT LEO, Fla. – In non-conference action, Saint Leo softball swept Tiffin 2-0 after winning game one with a 5-0 shutout and posting a 5-2 game two win at University Softball Stadium Wednesday evening.

On the day,
Ashley Morris put together a .625 batting average going 5-for-8 with one run scored and two RBI.
Deanna Falciglia led the Lions with a 1.000-average after going 2-for-2 in her game played with one run scored.

In all, seven Lions scored at least one run where
Kacie Kelly and
Bailey Burk crossed the plate for two.

Eight batters notched a hit led by Morris' five hits.

Game 1 – Saint Leo 5, Tiffin 0
Saint Leo and Tiffin played two scoreless frames before the Lions opened things up with three runs in the third. Saint Leo would go on to add two more in the sixth while holding the Dragons scoreless for the entirety of the game.

Auria Mounts pitched the complete game shutout where she recorded five strikeouts allowing just two hits.

In the third, the Lions
Bailey Burk got things started with a single up the middle before swiping second.
Ashley Morris would lay down the bunt single to move Burk to third before
Shyanne DuBois' single down the first base line allowed Burk to score. A throwing error by the first baseman allowed Morris to come around for the second run.

A squeeze play by
Amanda James allowed DuBois to come in for the third run of the inning.

Saint Leo added two more in the bottom of the sixth as Burk and Kelly came around to score for the Green and Gold for a 5-0 lead.

Mounts and the Lions' defense got the Dragons to go three-up three-down for the final outs of the first game.

Game 2 – Saint Leo 5, Tiffin 2
Saint Leo got on the board first in the second game of the doubleheader with two runs in the third inning before the Dragons tied things in the top of the fourth.

The Lions came out and added three runs in the bottom half of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead over Tiffin.

Sara Neuman tossed the first 3.2 innings of work allowing four hits with three strikeouts before
Sadi Avants came in for 3.1 innings of relief with two hits and one strikeout.

In the Green and Gold's big fourth inning,
Amanda James,
Kendyl Crean and
Deanna Falciglia all came in to score after James and Crean led off the inning with a single and double.

Saint Leo remains at home and will host Embry-Riddle March 8-9 to get back into Sunshine State Conference action with a 7 p.m. first pitch Friday evening.
