BOCA RATON, Fla. - After leading 1-0 heading into the sixth, it took 10 innings for the Saint Leo Lions to come out on top over the Lynn Fighting Knights Friday to open the Sunshine State Conference series 2-1.
Saint Leo scored one run in the third to take the early lead before Lynn scored one in the sixth. After both teams were held scoreless in the seventh, it was a passed ball that allowed the Lions'
Bailey Burk to come in and score from third.
Sadi Avants came in and picked up her sixth win of the year after 4.1 innings of work.
Auria Mounts started the game and went 5.2 with six strikeouts allowing just one run on four hits. Avants recorded four strikeouts in her four innings with one hit allowed.

Ashley Morris led the team in hits with two on the night going 2-for-5 where
Kacie Kelly picked up the lone RBI where
Bailey Burk, who went 1-for-3, scored both of the Green and Gold's runs on the afternoon.
Alexis Miniet went 1-for-1 where she was joined by Kelly,
Amanda James and Burk with one hit on the afternoon.
In the top of the third,
Kacie Kelly's one-out base knock to center field score Burk from third before the inning ended on a wild double play. After that, the Lions would strand five runners on base before the top of the 10th when Burk came in to score on the pass ball.
Avants would get the Fighting Knights to fly out to center, a swinging strikeout and a pop up to second base to end the game in 1-2-3 fashion.
