CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 5 Saint Leo softball's trend continues as the Lions spilt the day at the NFCA D2 Leadoff Classic at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. Saint Leo blanked Molloy 8-0 in six innings to start the day before falling in the nightcap to Harding 8-5.Â

Ashley Morris and
Shyanne DuBois led Saint Leo (5-5) on the day offensively as Morris went 5-for-7 with three runs scored and three RBI. DuBois was right behind her going 4-for-7 with three RBI as well.

Game 1 – #5 Saint Leo 8, Molloy 0 (6 inns.)
Saint Leo scored runs in all but one of the six-inning game against Molloy. The Lions opened up with a run in the first before adding three in the second and one in the third and fourth for a 6-0. The Green and Gold closed the game with two runs in the top of the sixth as the Lions notched 10 hits in the game.

Shyanne DuBois led the team from the dish going 3-for-3 ahead of
Ashley Morris' 2-for-3 performance against the Lions.

Sara Neuman tossed the complete six-inning game with six strikeouts and allowed just three hits on the day. Neuman surrendered just one walk on the in the 23 batters faced.

Game 2 – Harding 8, #5 Saint Leo 5
Saint Leo dropped the nightcap 8-5 to Harding where the Lions fell behind quick 3-0 after the first and 4-0 after the second. Saint Leo got on the board in the third inning to make it 4-1. Two runs in the top of the fourth and fifth matched by Harding's three in the bottom of the fourth saw the Green and Gold trail 7-5 heading to the sixth frame. The Bison added one insurance run in the bottom of the sixth before the 8-5 final.

Ashley Morris led the team going 3-for-4 while
Kayleice Hooks got things going and went 2-for-3 against the Bison.

Rachel Bean,
Sadi Avants and
Auria Mounts all made an appearance in the circle for the Green and Gold where Bean suffered the loss after 1.1 innings of work. Bean allowed four runs on four hits before Avants came in and tossed 1.2 innings. Avants allowed two runs on two hits, moments before handing the ball over to senior right-hander Mounts. Mounts would close the game allowing two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings of work.
