SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball dropped both games of the Sunshine State Conference doubleheader to Rollins 3-1, in eight innings, before a 6-3 final in game two at the University Softball Stadium.
The Lions saw
Kacie Kelly lead the charge with a .400 batting average with one double and one run scored.
Shyanne DuBois recorded a .375 clip with three hits, including one triple, with four runs scored.
Ashley Morris scored two runs for the Lions while
Kendyl Crean was the other Green and Gold player to score in the doubleheader. Crean paced the team with three RBI ahead of
Kayleice Hooks' two.
Auria Mounts went 1-1 on the day with 13.1 innings pitched, as
Sadi Avants,
Sara Neuman and
Rachel Bean all saw action on the day. Mounts led the pitching staff with three strikeouts as Bean and Avants tallied one in their innings pitched.

Game 1 - Rollins 3, Saint Leo 1 (8 innings)
Rollins scored the first run of the game after both teams played two scoreless frames. Saint Leo threatened in the first with a leadoff double, but the Lions couldn't bring her around. The Tars scored one in the third before Saint Leo answered with one in the fourth.
Kendyl Crean walked with two outs, to put a runner on first.
Sarah Pauscher took the 1-2 pitch to the left center gap for a double, but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple, allowing Crean to tie things at 1-1.
The Lions left two runners on in the bottom of the fifth before each team went down in order in the sixth and seventh, sending the game to extras.
Rollins scored two runs on three hits before
Shyanne DuBois recorded the putout on a line drive from the Tars pinch hitter. Saint Leo went down in order in the bottom of the eighth, dropping the second game of the series.
Game 2 - Rollins 6, Saint Leo 3
The Lions came out hot, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first.
Kacie Kelly started things off with a fullcount single down the left field line before
Ashley Morris tripled down the left field line on her first pitch of the third and final game of the series. After a bunt single by
Shyanne DuBois,
Kendyl Crean stepped in and delivered a 2 RBI double to left center forcing a pitching change and defensive alignment for the Tars.
After the pitching change, the Lions wouldn't score and would be held to three hits and strand five runners on the bases.
Rollins would score two in the top of the fourth on a home run before adding two more in the top of the sixth on a base knock to right field.
Despite getting a leadoff base runner, the Green and Gold would not get the runner off the first base bag.
