MELBOURNE, Fla. - Saint Leo opened up the month of March and the Sunshine State Conference series against No. 9 Florida Tech with a 4-2 win at Nancy Bottge Field.

Shyanne DuBois each went 2-for-3 from the plate where James led the team in runs scored with two. DuBois and
Sarah Pauscher were credited with the other two runs scored.
Ashley Morris joined James and DuBois in the two hit club where
Kacie Kelly,
Grace Spitulski and Pauscher all tallied one hit on the afternoon.
Auria Mounts got the nod for the Lions and went the full seven innings with just three hits and one earned run allowed while striking out four FIT batters.
Florida Tech got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first before the Lions answered with a run in the third. FIT regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the third for a 2-1 lead after three innings. A scoreless fourth frame saw the Lions come to bat in the top of the fifth trailing by one. A one-out solo homerun by
Amanda James tied things up at two runs apiece.
Auria Mounts held the Panthers scoreless in the bottom of the fifth before Saint Leo tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth. Saint Leo held on for the two run win 4-2.
Mounts settled in after three frames and retired the Panthers batters in order, 12 up, 12 down for the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
